Sticking it to Heart Disease

You've probably noticed the buzz starting around the Knit Red knitting book by Jimmy Beans Wool's Laura Zander.

The book comes out on June 5th and after having a student turned friend go in for a routine check up a few months ago, then having to have emergency heart surgery the next day, this cause hits close to home. My grandmother and grandfather were both affected by heart disease and the stats on heart disease and women are staggering and scary. Chances are you know someone struggling with this disease. When they asked me to participate, it was a no brainer saying "yes, count me in!"

Knit Red features 30 eye-catching, heart health–inspired red garment and accessory patterns, as well as personal experiences with heart disease and tips on staying heart healthy from industry greats. Mixing style and soul with essential heart health education for women in an effort to draw awareness to the #1 killer of women in the United States, Knit Red is part of the Needlearts industry’s nationwide Stitch Red campaign and joins many unique Stitch Red products created by numerous manufacturers and designers. A portion of Knit Red’s proceeds will benefit the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health in support of The Heart Truth®.

Knit Red is officially available and includes my new pattern, a red lace infinity cowl! I'll be hosting a giveaway sometime in June, so keep checking back to win a free copy of the book.
