Lace Forensics

  • Second Story Knits 4706 Bethesda Avenue Bethesda, MD, 20814 United States (map)

Hosted by Second Story Knits in Bethesda, Maryland

Channel your inner Sherlock Holmes and join Tanis Gray on a 2-part lace forensics adventure! If knitting lace is something you’ve shied away from, let’s tackle it head on! We’ll discuss the history and mechanics of this technique, discuss the differences between lace knitting and knitted lace, learn to translate a written lace pattern into charted form, learn to knit lace from a chart, and decode a lace swatch and turn it into a chart. We’ll also cover nupps and knitting with beads. In the afternoon, we’ll take what we learned and knit either the Luce Cowl or the Silk Road Mitts with beads - knitter’s choice (both patterns are one size fits all)! Open to knitters of all levels, you’ll leave feeling like a lace pro!
